The current knowledge about volunteerism is focused on a number of aspects that include defining volunteerism, volunteer motivations, the costs and benefits, retention and satisfaction, and the effectiveness of volunteers (Bargal and Haski- Leventhal 2008). These elements change significantly during the volunteering period .An individual can start volunteering because of given reasons and continue to do so for different ones. Therefore volunteering motives cannot be restricted to personality traits alone, but also include the stages of volunteering process.
