Gun control and the Second Amendment Under the United States Constitution U.S. citizens are given the right to bear arms. Even though this guarantee was created without constraints there are now laws that limit this right. Public safety is the main reason for gun control. Though there are many safety reasons why private ownership of firearms should be banned, these arguments are outweighed not only by the need for protection, but because the limitation of ownership rights could become dangerous to personal freedom. Even with the enormous number of safety issues that makes the idea of banning firearms seem plausible, these issues are overshadowed by the need of self protection, and because limiting this freedom could lead to ...... oneself in the process.
